Sa Eh Sue — Only Upper House and Lower House ballots have been tallied at Polling Station No 1 in Khale Village; located in Karen State’s Kyain Seikgyi Township. Votes for State Parliament candidates are still being counted and started at 10 am, according to party representatives tasked with observing polling stations.

Over 3,000 eligible voters were registered and people were lined up yesterday until after 4 pm; the official closing time. This explains why the results have been delayed, said U Kyaw Linn Yi, from the Union Solidarity and Development Party.

“After the ballots were cast, staff had to check the ballot lists and other lists. They only started counting ballots at 7 pm. The weather was hot, so polling station officials counted ballots slowly to avoid mistakes,” he explained to BNI Election Newsroom.

According to the latest results, National League for Democracy (NLD) candidates Saw Tin Winn and Naw Sar Mu Htoo have both won in the Lower House and Upper House, respectively. The NLD appears to be doing very well across Myanmar.
