The Arakan National Party (ANP) has established a committee aimed at laying the ground work for an election victory, the party’s chairman Dr Aye Maung announced during a rally held in Sittwe’s Winkabar Grounds on October 1st. Thousands of people including monks attended the public rally for the party which appears very popular in the state.

“Although there have been cracks in the party’s unity since the Thandwe Conference, we have been making systematic plans to obtain complete control of the Arakan State Parliament and obtain full rights to determine Arakan's fate by establishing a committee for winning the election,” Dr Aye Maung said.
