San Maung Than — The Arakan National Party (ANP) has been reportedly victorious taking the most seats across Arakan State.

Party Vice-chairperson Daw Aye Nu Sein said: “According to an unconfirmed report, the ANP won 25 seats in the State Parliament; 13 seats in the Upper House; and 12 seats in the Lower House. In Paletwa Township, it won one seat in the Lower House; two seats in the Upper House; and two seats in the State Parliament.”

They lost all seats in Gwa and Manaung townships.

U Thinkhar Kyaw, NLD chairman for Sittwe District, told the BNI Newsroom they secured seats in these townships.

“We won all four seats in Manaung. We also won two seats each in Gwa, Thandwe, and Toungup. We’re still trying to contact Ann,” he said.

The ANP is also eagerly awaiting results from other areas of the state.

“We have not received results from Toungup, Ann, Thandwe, Kyaukpyu, and Ramree townships,” said Daw Aye Nu Sein.

ANP reportedly won in state capital Sittwe, taking 3 out of the 4 seats, and all the seats in Ponnagyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk U, Minbya, Myebon, Pauktaw, Rathedaung, Buthidaung, and Maungdaw townships.

ANP candidate Dr. Aye Maung lost in Manaung Township. However, other ANP candidates were successful. In Minbya and Myebon, U Aye Thar Aung won an Upper House seat. U Oo Hla Saw took a Lower House seat in Mrauk-U Township.

At press time, it appeared that ANP’s Daw Htu May was in the lead for a Lower House seat in Ann and Ramree townships.

BNI Election Newsroom tried to contact the Union Solidarity and Development Party for comment several times by phone but all calls went answered.
