San Maung Than — Security has been tightened in Arakan State as the election draws closer, according to those who have travelled to the area.

Security tightened in Arakan State as election draws closerThe police and the military have been working together at Ann gate and the soldiers have been using police dogs to inspect vehicles at Pardaleik gate at the entrance of Sittwe.

“I saw a soldier searching a passenger bus with a police dog at Pardaleik gate at the entrance of Sittwe on October 27,“ a passenger told Narinjara News.
Yangon to Sittwe passengers have said security was not tightened in the past but it has been bolstered significantly in recent days.

“We are searching as it was necessary for security. The military and the police have been working together in areas for security. The military and the police are working together in Ann,” Police Major Nay Myo, chief of the Arakan State Police Force, told Narinjara News.

The security has been tightened to prevent any complications during the election, which will be held on November 8th.
